AccentWeb, a business of Two Toques Web Design and Development  |  Version 1.2 | Effective August 2026

AccentWeb is a business of Two Toques Web Design and Development, a partnership between John Curtis and Melanie Curtis of Surrey, British Columbia. Two Toques acquired the AccentWeb business in July 2026 and now operates it. Where this policy says “we” or “us”, it means that partnership operating under the AccentWeb name.

John Curtis is our privacy officer. You can reach him at info@accentweb.ca or (204) 745-0680.

What this policy covers

This policy explains how we handle personal information about two groups of people: visitors to accentweb.ca, and clients whose websites, domains, email, and hosting we manage.

It does not cover the websites we build or host for our clients. Each of those sites belongs to the client who owns it, and that client is responsible for its own privacy practices and its own privacy policy. If you visited a site we host and have a question about information you gave that site, please contact the business that operates it.

Information we collect

From visitors to our website

• Your name, email address, phone number, and whatever you choose to write when you use our contact form

• Standard server log information, including IP address, browser type, the pages you visit, and the time of your visit

• Information collected by cookies, described under Cookies below

From clients

• Contact and business details for you and the people at your organization we work with

• Billing information. Card numbers are handled directly by our payment processor. We never see or store them.

• Registrant details for domains we register on your behalf. Some of this information is published in public registry records, because the registry requires it.

• Account credentials and access details you provide so that we can do the work

• Correspondence and project records

We do not ask for sensitive personal information such as health, financial account, or government identification numbers, and we ask that you do not send it to us.

Why we use it

• To answer your enquiry and communicate with you

• To provide, bill for, and support the services you have asked for

• To register and renew domains on your behalf

• To keep our systems secure and to investigate problems

• To meet our legal, tax, and record keeping obligations

We do not use your information to make automated decisions about you, and we do not sell it to anyone.

Consent

When you use our contact form, you are consenting to us using what you send in order to reply. When you become a client, you are consenting to us using your information to deliver the services you have asked for.

You can withdraw your consent at any time by writing to info@accentweb.ca. If you are a client, withdrawing consent for information we need in order to run your services will usually mean we cannot continue providing them, and we will tell you before that happens.

Who we share it with

We rely on third party providers to deliver our services. Each one receives only the information it needs, and only for the purpose of providing its service to us. The categories, and the main providers in each, are:

• Website and server hosting: GoDaddy and Wix

• Domain registration: GoDaddy, together with the registry operating each domain extension

• Email and productivity: Google

• Payment processing: Stripe

• Website security, monitoring, and backup services used on the servers we operate

Apart from those providers, we disclose personal information only where the law requires it, where it is needed for a legal proceeding, where it is necessary to establish or defend our legal rights, or to a buyer if we sell the business. We do not sell or rent personal information.

Where your information is stored

Some of our providers store and process information outside Canada, including in the United States. Information held in another country is subject to the laws of that country, and may be accessible to its courts, law enforcement, and government authorities. By using our website or our services, you consent to your information being transferred and stored on that basis.

How long we keep it

• Contact form enquiries that do not lead to a working relationship: up to two years

• Client records and correspondence: for as long as you are a client, and for seven years afterwards

• Billing and tax records: at least six years from the end of the tax year they relate to, as the Canada Revenue Agency requires

• Server and access logs: a few months, according to the default retention of the platform that generates them

• Backups: as described in your service plan, and overwritten on a rolling basis

When information is no longer needed for any of these purposes we delete it or render it anonymous.

How we protect it

We apply safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information we hold. These include restricting access to the people who need it, two-factor authentication on administrative accounts, encrypted connections, and security monitoring on the servers we operate.

No system is completely secure and we cannot guarantee that your information will never be compromised. If a breach of security safeguards occurs and it creates a real risk of significant harm, we will report it to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada and notify the individuals affected, as the law requires.

Your rights

You have the right to ask us what personal information we hold about you, how we have used it, and who we have disclosed it to. You can ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete, and you can ask us to delete information we no longer need.

Write to info@accentweb.ca and we will respond within thirty days. There is normally no charge. If a request would take an unusual amount of work we will tell you the cost before we start, and you can decide whether to proceed.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information or your request, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca or 1-800-282-1376.

Cookies

A cookie is a small file that a website stores on your device. We use two kinds:

• Cookies that are necessary for the site to work, such as those that keep a session running or remember your preferences

• Analytics cookies, which tell us how people find and move through our site so we can improve it

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the necessary ones may stop parts of the site from working properly.

Changes to this policy

We update this policy when our practices change or when the law requires it. The effective date at the top tells you when the current version took effect. Where a change materially affects how we handle information about our clients, we will tell them directly.
