An online presence is the compilation of your activities (business or personal) that involves interacting through a website or social media site such as Facebook, Twitter or Pinterest. It is very important to note that an online presence doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time and effort but the only way to do it, is to just do it! Invest your time into learning about the various sites, engage yourself and begin a conversation.
Build a solid online platform – A company website that has valuable information for its visitors (or your customers) is the platform or “mother-ship” of your online presence. Then sign up for social media accounts which can drive viewers to your website. Social media sites such as a Facebook’s free business page take only a few minutes to set up.
Always be optimizing and improving – If you wait until you have all the content you want on a website perfectly planned out, you might take a very long time to get online. Just Start! Knowing that you will always improve your content gives you the “go ahead” to just start a website and realize that you can always work on improving it over time. Don’t wait until you have everything perfect – because we all know that will never be.
Provide consistent valuable content – having a website is a conversation – so keep it fresh. Add articles, links, update it regularly. Using the WordPress Platform that Accentweb develops in, it allows our customers to easily post new content with “like” buttons and the ability for customer’s comments.
Be social – Social media can be a really great marketing tool to reach new customers. It is impossible to keep up with all the social media sites, so my advice is to pick and choose 2 or 3 that your potential customers frequent and open a free account. These social media sites and your involvement on them will help to build your online presence and create followers of your services, interests and products.
Start building relationships – find a group or online community who share the same interests. Contribute to that group and you will gain customers through that group eventually.
Track your progress – number of “likes” in Facebook, web statistics from Google Analytics will help you recognize trends and tell you what is working, or what is not.
